A down-to-earth Cindy Crawford spends some time in the Kingdom to launch Omega's new boutique

She was 16 going on 17 when she started modelling. Before that she worked in corn fields during summer like all the other kids in DeKalb, Illinois. These small-town-girl-turned-supermodel stories are nothing new. And of course, these days Cindy Crawford no longer needs an introduction wherever she goes.
But after gracing over 600 magazine covers, she remains enduringly and effortlessly refreshing.
The renowned supermodel and entrepreneur, who's considered by some as one of the most beautiful women in the world, is unaffectedly genial and charming. At the recent press conference for the launch of a new Omega boutique at Gaysorn Plaza and the brand's auction for Unicef, Crawford, who has been Omega's ambassador for 11 years, greeted the curious and admiring shoppers with amiable waves and smiles, as if she was glad, even pleasantly surprised, to see them.
It was all too brief and hectic a visit for Crawford, but nothing would stop her from flying back in time to attend her daughter's preschool graduation. Even though she's a successful model and businesswoman, the famous mum also readily calls herself a housewife.
Crawford reveals that she's always wanted to have children and it has turned out to be better than she thought it would be. And since she's had her two children, Crawford's career choices, like appearing in a Pepsi commercial with her kids and partnering up with a furniture store, Rooms to Go, never fail to illustrate her current top priority. "[My children] influence how I spend my time. I don't think I would do Playboy now that I have a son because he'll maybe get teased about that. I've never done cigarettes campaigns or things like that. I always say I have something better to be doing, which is being with my kids. So I hate if people waste my time or if it's not a job that I'm paid well or with the photographer that I really want to work with or like working with. It has to offer me something, otherwise I have to pick my kids up from school." At 40, Crawford is one of the few models of her generation who still holds a respectable place in the fashion and beauty world. And judging from how active she still is, it doesn't seem like she's going to disappear from the public eye anytime soon. http://www.bangkokpost.com/Outlook/24Jun2006_out001.php
