ประเทศไทย กระฉ่อนโลกอีกครั้ง โชว์ฝีมือก๊อปปี้ รถเฟอร์รารี่ 3 คัน ในโลกได้อย่างแนบเนียน

สำนักข่าวบีบีซี รายงานว่า มูลนิธิสินค้าของแท้ในยุโรป จัดนิทรรศการแฉสินค้าปลอมแปลง ในกรุงบรัสเซลส์ประเทศเบลเยียม โดยมีตัวอย่างชิ้นเอกเป็น รถเฟอร์รารี่ ( Ferrari ) พี 4 ที่ผลิตขึ้นในประเทศไทย ใช้เครื่องยนต์ของรถซูบารุ ทั้งที่ รถยนต์รุ่นนี้ ผลิตขึ้นเพียง 3 คันในโลก เมื่อปี ค.ศ.1967 เพื่อเตือนให้ผู้คนตระหนักและต่อต้านสินค้าปลอมแปลงชนิดต่างๆ

ซึ่ง นายโฮเซ่ มานูเอล บาร์รอสโซ่ ประธานคณะกรรมาธิการยุโรป กล่าวว่าขอสนับสนุนการรณรงค์ในครั้งนี้ให้ผู้บริโภคตระหนักว่า สินค้าปลอมแปลงเหล่านี้ ทำขึ้นมาจากการกดขี่แรงงานเด็กใช้เงินของกลุ่มอาชญากรรม มีคุณภาพต่ำและเป็นอันตรายต่อสุขภาพ

Fake Ferrari Stars in Anti-Piracy Show
Authentically Made in Thailand

We’ve all heard wild stories of people trying to sell others Bolex watches and Mike running shoes. But a fake Ferrari? A few have actually been spotted around before, and this one is one of them. It is on exhibit in Brussels for an awareness campaign against pirated goods. The vehicle tries to mimic a 1967 Ferrari P4 so rare that even people at Ferrari don’t own one.

How it surfaced in Thailand is no mystery. Apparently a backstreet factory exists where car like the P4 can be made to order and shipped out to customers from around the world. This one, intercepted by Thai police, was destined for a buyer in Europe, but it’s not clear yet if the potential buyer is also being sought by the long arm of the law.

The Authentics Foundation, which is using the exhibition to highlight the problem of fake goods, says these days just about anything can be faked, not just headaches. Speaking of headaches, according to the AF, 80 percent of all pharmaceuticals in Nigeria are non-authentic.

President of the Foundation Timothy P Trainer says: "It has got more complicated because now counterfeiters are into everything. Twenty years ago they were more into luxury brands and so on.
Today, they are into electronics, they are into medicine, they are into food."

Echoing Trainer’s sentiments is EU commission president, Jose Manuel Barroso: "Counterfeiting now takes place on an industrial scale. It has become an extremely profitable business, generating income that can compete with narcotics and weapons trafficking, but at much lower risk ... The days when fake goods meant shifty men with a suitcase full of Rolexes are over."

The car that was shown at the 'Fakes Co$t More' expo in Brussels on Monday (10th March) was not 'made in Thailand'. It was a pretty ropey looking example of a (lee) Noble P4 replica, built in the UK, from a UK kit available between 1986 and 1992. Trust me on this. I run the worldwide register for these things. The 'Authentics Foundation' who organised this expo have managed to obtain one of these cars, and are falsely mis-describing the car as 'made in Thailand' in their efforts to gain more publicity for their global anti-counterfeiting campaign. Unfortunately the picked the wrong car to do it with, and I will be making every effort to make the public aware of this deception.

Genuine Ferraris are a huge status symbol
Anyone who's bought a fake Rolex watch or an imitation Gucci bag will know that from a cursory glance they look like the real thing.

But what about a fake Ferrari?

Italian police say they have smashed a counterfeiting ring in Sicily that produced the ultimate status symbol.

Imitation Ferraris were being sold online at a fraction of the real price - a dream for those who could never afford one.

Pale imitation

Cobbled together with bogus parts and just a few original components, the fake Ferrari would grace any driveway.

To the untrained eye, it is a blood-red, Ferrari classic.

It looks like a 328 GTB that went out of production in the late 1980s.

But on closer examination, it is a pale imitation of the real thing.

The investigation into this ring started in Maranello, where the Ferrari factory is based.

It led the police to Palermo in Sicily, where the cars were being assembled - but the parts were coming from all around the country.

Fakes sold online

Some of the body parts were moulded from the spares of an American Pontiac.

Once built, they were sold online for $30,000, a fraction of the price of a real Ferrari.

Police have confiscated 21 cars - 14 had already been sold and seven were still in Sicilian garages.

The buyers are all Ferrari enthusiasts who knew they were buying a counterfeit classic - though the documents they possessed were, of course, originals with a few crucial alterations.

So far 15 people have been arrested. The police said they were "very able" body shop mechanics

A fake Ferrari sports car made in Thailand has become the centrepiece of an exhibition in Brussels warning against the dangers of pirated goods.
The Ferrari P4 - of which only three were made, in 1967 - was made in a back street factory in Thailand and is powered by a Subaru engine.

The Authentics Foundation has used the car to warn against the growing tide of counterfeit goods.

It says pirated medicines and food pose a real threat to human health.

"I think this all maybe started with the DVDs and music being pirated and it has just exploded, basically, into something quite different," said model Yasmin Le Bon, an anti-counterfeit campaigner.

European Commission President Jose-Manuel Barroso gave his support to the campaign.

"It is indeed not only an economic problem; but a public health and a consumer problem," Mr Barroso said.

The foundation said as much as 80% of the pharmaceuticals sold in Nigeria are fake.
